How to remove glue from a carpet

Did some arts and crafts with your kids and not your carpet is covered in glue? Don’t stress that much. It’s quite possible to remove it on your own. Here are some tips and tricks on removing glue from carpets straight from the experts – Monster Cleaning (a cleaning company based in London).
They say that before you attempt to do anything you should check the bottle to see if the glue is water-based. It might have specific cleaning instructions on the label as well. If it has – stick to them. If it’s water-based, follow the next steps.

What will you need?

  • Vinegar
  • Liquid soap

Yes, this is all you need. Now, pour a little bit of vinegar on the glue and let it sit there for a while. This will soften the glue which will make it easier to be removed.
Then get the liquid soap and put some on a brush. Start scrubbing gently.
Rinse the area with water (warm water) once you are done the scrubbing and blot it.

What about glues that are not water-based?

Grab acetone/paint thinner.
Dab some acetone on the affected area. Let it soak for a couple of minutes. Scrub the glue after.
If this doesn’t work, try it with paint thinner.
